Sleepy Cat Books
Redesigning their storefront logo with a new brand.
Sleepy Cat Books opened in Orinda, a sleepy town in the hills north of Berkeley. In 2018, the bookshop moved to Telegraph Avenue, just 5 blocks from UC Berkeley. The owner, Jeff, loves reading and cats, and the universal constant in his life seems to be that a sleepy cat is around as he’s reading. And so the shop is named Sleepy Cat Books, in tribute to all the sleepy cats.
He runs the store with his cat, Lyla, who loves attention even in her own sleepy way. She gets extra happy during the opening as she knows many people are going to come in to visit her. Most of her day is spent napping on the customer service desk.
Sleepy Cat’s mission is becoming the inviting place that brightens the world with good books and a friendly cat. Through gently spreading positive energy, the owner believes it's the little things in life that can make a big difference in the long run.
